About the role
Responsibilities
- Advance voting rights policies to achieve a multiracial democracy through advocacy and legislative analysis
- Build and maintain relationships with members of Congress, staff, and federal administration officials
- Draft advocacy plans, model policies, legislative proposals, testimony, and policy recommendations
- Analyze federal legislation and administrative rules to provide recommendations to stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal legal, communications, and research teams and external coalition partners
- Organize briefings and facilitate the presentation of testimony before Congressional committees
- Train and mentor policy staff, interns, and externs
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school
- For Policy Counsel: At least 5 years of experience in public policy with voting rights expertise
- For Senior Policy Counsel: At least 10 years of experience in public policy with voting rights expertise
- Proven track record in developing policy solutions and legislative advocacy
- Ability to work across the political and ideological spectrum
