Senior Platform Engineer

About the Company

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is a joint venture between two industry leaders focused on automotive's next chapter. They are addressing the challenges of electric vehicles through technology including operating systems, zonal controllers, cloud, and connectivity solutions to set standards for software-defined vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable infrastructure frameworks, including messaging patterns, stream processing, and Kubernetes orchestration
• Manage AWS footprint for multi-region availability, disaster recovery, and cost efficiency
• Define Infrastructure as Code (IaC) patterns and maintain the library of modules
• Develop and optimize custom Kubernetes operators and controllers to automate stateful services
• Build automated security controls and policy-as-code for platform compliance
• Conduct user research with development teams to improve developer experience
• Support mid-level and junior engineers through code reviews and technical documentation
• Collaborate with engineering teams to gather requirements and mitigate risks

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles
• Expert proficiency with Terraform and/or Crossplane
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes internals, networking, storage, and service mesh
• Proven track record implementing GitOps workflows using ArgoCD or Flux
• Strong automation and scripting skills in Python, Bash, or GoLang
• Extensive experience with AWS core services (IAM, networking, data services)
• Experience maintaining and optimizing CI pipelines, preferably GitLab CI
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to stakeholders
