Senior Piping Engineer

Candid is building the AI layer for EPCs. We use AI to reduce the manual effort behind preconstruction engineering by automating document understanding, consistency checks, and repetitive workflow steps across major disciplines. Our goal is to make preconstruction 10x faster without sacrificing engineering quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on piping engineering on FEL-2 and early-phase delivery work
• Act as the quality gate for automated piping outputs to ensure accuracy
• Define how piping information is developed and validated through FEED and early detailed design
• Review and validate piping content across P&IDs, line lists, piping specs, and tie-in lists
• Build repeatable checks to catch tagging, completeness, and consistency issues
• Map piping rework drivers and clarify interface points with Process, Mechanical, I&C, Electrical, and Civil/Structural disciplines
• Help define product requirements to automate repetitive engineering tasks

Requirements

• 7+ years at a large scale EPC, PMC, or owner-operator
• Direct experience on combined cycle, simple cycle, gas-to-power, LNG, or cogeneration projects
• Proven ownership of line list and piping spec development through FEED
• Expertise in power plant piping including high-energy steam cycles, fuel gas, and balance of plant
• Hands-on experience with ASME B31.1 and B31.3
• Familiarity with pipe stress analysis (CAESAR II or similar)
• Experience with 3D model driven layout (AVEVA E3D, PDMS, or SmartPlant 3D)
• Strong understanding of cross-discipline dependencies

Preferred Qualifications

• Discipline lead or technical authority experience
• Experience with data center or behind-the-meter power campuses
• Knowledge of high-energy piping materials and metallurgy (P91, P22)
• Experience with pipe support and spring hanger design
• Experience with brownfield tie-ins and constructability constraints
• Interest in AI and automation
