Senior Permitting Manager

DESRI (formerly D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments) is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects throughout the United States. We have acquired or developed approximately 13 gigawatts of contracted capacity across a portfolio of over 85 renewable energy projects in 24 states.

Responsibilities

• Lead and consult on permitting matters across the development portfolio
• Provide expert environmental support and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws
• Support due diligence efforts related to environmental permitting, siting, and approvals
• Drive initiatives around environmental assessments, including Section 7 and Section 106 consultations
• Manage local discretionary permits and state siting approvals
• Collaborate with external consultants to ensure permitting strategies meet project timelines and financial goals
• Assess and communicate environmental risks to internal and external decision makers

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• At least five years of experience in environmental consulting or permitting
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Analytical acumen and project management abilities
• Ability to travel occasionally

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in consulting and renewable energy
• Degree in environmental studies, biology, or a related field
