Senior Paralegal

Responsibilities

• Provide technical legal assistance and support to Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSA) within the Criminal Division
• Prepare complex legal documents including indictments, arrest warrants, motions, plea agreements, and legal memoranda
• Assist attorneys in trial preparation by compiling witness notebooks, organizing exhibits, and assembling jury instructions
• Conduct legal research using Westlaw and Lexis/Nexis to verify citations and statutory references
• Electronically file legal documents with the U.S. District Court using the CM/ECF system
• Manage electronic discovery databases and link case-related materials into ESI tools
• Maintain electronic case files, perform docketing duties, and track case filings using case management systems
• Coordinate with victim/witness specialists to ensure adherence to departmental guidelines

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance
• Paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school (minimum one year completed)
• At least two years of litigation paralegal experience
• At least one year of experience in automated litigation support
• Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems
• Proficiency in legal research tools such as Lexis or Westlaw
• Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures
• Strong written and oral communication skills
