Senior Optomechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own optomechanical design efforts including concept development, trade studies, and preliminary sizing of hardware
• Perform subsystem and system-level analyses including STOP analysis, tolerance stackups, and alignment planning
• Support Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/DFA) efforts for volume production
• Support optical instrument assembly, integration, and test (AI&T) planning and implementation
• Support subsystem and instrument-level testing including environmental (vibration, TVAC) and system characterization
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, program managers, and external partners

Requirements

• Ph.D. with 3+ years of experience, M.S. with 6+ years, or B.S. with 8+ years of industry experience in optomechanical hardware design
• Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
• Experience with STOP analysis tools (FEA, Sigfit, Zemax)
• Experience with precision optical and mechanical metrology equipment
• Experience with system integration of complex hardware/software systems
• Ability to obtain security clearance preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with requirements development, error budgets, and V&V planning
• Basic software/scripting skills (Python, C++)
• Experience working in cleanroom environments
• Experience with root cause analysis and data analysis
