Senior Optical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Drive cross-functional innovation with Optics, Ophthalmology, Chemistry, and Mechanical Engineering teams to solve complex IOL and vision-correction challenges.
• Lead end-to-end optical design and simulation using Zemax or Code V to develop proprietary optics optimized for human vision.
• Define rigorous optical metrology to ensure world-class performance of ophthalmic technologies.
• Own critical IOL R&D programs from conceptual research through execution, applying technical judgment to introduce new design methodologies and materials.
• Leverage advanced computation and data-driven analysis using Python or MATLAB to accelerate design decisions and improve performance robustness.
• Mentor others, lead design reviews, and ensure compliance with ISO, FDA, and MDD standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.
• Proven experience in optical design and simulation.
• Proficiency in optical design software such as Zemax or Code V.
• Proficiency in Python or MATLAB for data analysis and computation.
• Ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Optics, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering field.
• Knowledge of ISO, FDA, and MDD regulations applicable to medical device design and development.
• Proficiency in common ML/data libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions for complex technical problems.
