About the role
Responsibilities
- Deliver market-creating client solutions by leading analysis of key constraints and supporting reform implementation through public-private dialogue.
- Engage with senior government and private sector stakeholders to identify and articulate the case for improving the business environment.
- Provide technical oversight of Country Advisory and Economics (CAE) programs in South Africa and the broader region to ensure quality and consistency.
- Collaborate with IFC Industry teams to develop a pipeline of private investment opportunities and enhance the enabling environment for priority sectors.
- Design and operationalize advisory solutions, including the development of project documents, theories of change, and results frameworks.
- Create and share knowledge through conferences, knowledge transfer sessions, and the development of reform communication materials.
- Supervise assigned staff and consultants, providing mentoring, coaching, and technical capability development.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Economics, Law, Finance, Business, or a closely related field.
- 12-15 years of experience in private sector development, specifically working with governments to deliver advisory programs.
- Proven track record in supporting legal and regulatory reforms and addressing public policy issues to support private sector growth.
- Extensive experience engaging senior-level government officials in the design and delivery of advisory programs.
- Strong ability to design research and analytical projects to identify new market opportunities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with fluency in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with sector-specific engagements, particularly in infrastructure and advanced manufacturing.
- Previous experience working with IFC or World Bank products and instruments.
- Proficiency in using IFC tools such as RfX or Iportal.
- Experience using project management systems.
