About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the overall results of a multi-shift manufacturing operation, focusing on safety, quality, cost, and continuous improvement
  • Champion Lean manufacturing principles and the Herman Miller Performance System (HMPS) to eliminate waste and create value
  • Manage plant capital and expense budgets while driving EVA and managing to business conditions
  • Lead and develop the workforce through effective staffing, performance management, and mentoring of operations managers
  • Provide leadership for new product development to ensure manufacturability and successful implementation of systems and processes
  • Ensure product quality by managing quality programs, establishing goals (PPMs, FTQ), and identifying root causes for issues
  • Drive reliability and on-time delivery through proactive capacity planning and daily problem-solving
  • Maintain a safe working environment by overseeing the plant safety program and ensuring compliance with all legislation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • 8-10 years of successful management experience in manufacturing-related processes
  • 4 years of senior-level leadership experience managing salaried employees
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proven financial management skills and ability to manage plant budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change management and coach diverse teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence executive leadership
