Nautilus is developing a single-molecule protein analysis platform of unprecedented sensitivity, scale, and ease of use to accelerate drug development and enable precision medicine. We pursue deep science with an entrepreneurial mindset to democratize access to the proteome.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with R&D on new product introductions (NPI) to ensure smooth handoff to production
  • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for optical assemblies, including lens systems, illumination modules, and laser subsystems
  • Test, calibrate, and align optical modules, camera systems, and laser components
  • Develop calibration procedures, alignment protocols, and acceptance criteria
  • Establish process documentation including SOPs, work instructions, and control plans
  • Develop fixtures, tooling, and automated assembly aids to improve yield and throughput
  • Qualify new manufacturing processes and equipment using IQ/OQ/PQ protocols
  • Conduct production failure modes and effect analysis (FMEA)
  • Support supplier qualification for optical components like mirrors, prisms, and fiber optics
  • Train and guide technicians on design and development projects

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
  • 5–7 years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering, preferably in medical devices or life sciences
  • Working knowledge of geometric optics, alignment techniques, fiber coupling, or spectroscopy
  • Familiarity with optical alignment equipment such as autocollimators and interferometers
  • Experience with precision assembly in cleanroom or controlled environments
  • Proficiency with GD&T, engineering drawings, and CAD tools (SolidWorks)
  • Understanding of ISO 13485, FDA QSR, or GMP environments
  • Hands-on experience with SPC, DOE, and FMEA methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with fluorescence-based imaging, flow cytometry, or PCR instrumentation
  • Familiarity with automated optical inspection (AOI) or machine vision systems
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • Familiarity with Arena and NetSuite
