Senior Mortgage Insurance Underwriter

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze mortgage insurance applications and supporting documentation
• Utilize automated underwriting systems and proprietary technology to evaluate risk
• Communicate with loan officers, processors, and stakeholders to clarify discrepancies
• Make informed underwriting decisions and document justifications for approvals or rejections
• Prioritize work to meet deadlines and service level agreements
• Maintain knowledge of mortgage insurance policies, lending guidelines, and regulations
• Identify potential fraudulent activity in loan documentation
• Provide support to mortgage insurance analysts and participate in system testing

Requirements

• 5-7 years of experience in mortgage underwriting
• Proficiency with automated underwriting systems (Fannie Mae DU, Freddie Mac LPA)
• Experience with loan origination platforms (Encompass, Empower, Vesta, Blue Sage, or Calyx)
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Thorough understanding of insurance risk underwriting
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Proficiency with Google Suite and experience testing new technologies
