Senior Mineralogist

Responsibilities

• Manage mineralogical projects to optimize client satisfaction and profitability
• Plan, organize, and coordinate laboratory projects
• Monitor production to ensure optimum staff levels and quality standards
• Peer review mineralogical reports for technical content and readability
• Provide process mineralogical context to output from optical and automated studies
• Perform Quality Control through mineralogical balances and assay reconciliation
• Develop new business by maintaining client relationships and identifying needs
• Mentor junior technical and professional staff

Requirements

• Four-year university degree in Mineralogy, Geology, Environmental Mineralogy, Soil Science, or Earth Sciences
• 5+ years of experience in a mineralogy related field
• Experience in mineralogical instrument-based applications and consulting
• Registered Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) in Ontario or immediate eligibility
• Experience managing and training junior or technical staff
• Proficiency in automated applications such as QEMSCAN, TIMA-X, SEM-EDS, or XRD
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in industrial mineralogy (cement, alloys, castings, refractories, high-tech metals)
• Understanding of LIMS (Laboratory Management System) and Oracle systems
• Experience with EMPA, SIMS, or electron microprobe
