Senior Metrology & Inspection Engineer

About the Company

Pacific Fusion was founded in 2023 with the mission to power the world with abundant, affordable, clean energy. We are rapidly designing and building a pulser-driven inertial fusion system to achieve net facility gain.

Responsibilities

• Develop and establish in-process inspection procedures to verify component quality
• Work across technical groups to understand production and quality requirements
• Design and fabricate specialized inspection fixtures for high-precision measurement
• Perform detailed measurement analysis of components fabricated via diamond turning, electroplating, and thin-film coating
• Establish new metrology capabilities and data management workflows
• Select and qualify metrology equipment based on target requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
• Expert-level knowledge of metrology and precision manufacturing
• Strong understanding of GD&T and technical drawings
• Ability to plan integration of inspection systems into manufacturing workflows
• Strong analytical skills and data-driven process engineering
• Proficiency in CAD modeling for designing measurement setups

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with non-contact optical systems, contact probes, radiography, and tomography
• Experience inspecting millimeter-scale components with micron tolerances
• Background in developing automated inspection systems
• Knowledge of material science and its impact on measurement accuracy
• Project management experience in manufacturing operations
