About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a scientific liaison to the medical and academic community, establishing and maintaining relationships with healthcare providers and key stakeholders.
  • Disseminate clinical, scientific, and health economic data regarding pain management and Vertex compounds in an ethical and timely manner.
  • Contribute to the Medical Affairs strategy by providing external stakeholder insights to shape the medical plan.
  • Engage healthcare professionals in response to scientific educational and research needs.
  • Represent Vertex at medical congresses through scientific session coverage, booth staffing, and stakeholder interactions.
  • Support clinical development by presenting Investigator Brochure (IB) material at SIV meetings and providing trial site nominations.
  • Utilize CRM and data analytics tools to capture interaction details and manage territory workload effectively.

Requirements

  • Advanced biomedical or life sciences degree (e.g., Masters, NP, PA); PhD, PharmD, or MD preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an MSL or in medical affairs roles within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Proven experience with medical conditions associated with pain.
  • Ability to travel routinely based on business needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working in a matrix environment.
  • Strong ability to appraise scientific literature and present clinical information credibly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR).
  • Understanding of the role of payers, P&T committees, and Integrated Delivery Networks.
  • Experience in territory planning and managing stakeholder engagement within a specific geographic region.
