Senior Medical Science Liaison

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain trusting relationships with Hematology Thought Leaders and Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) to disseminate clinical and scientific information.
• Contribute to the Medical Affairs strategy by providing external stakeholder insights to shape the medical plan.
• Engage HCPs in response to scientific educational and research needs using available Vertex resources.
• Represent Vertex at medical congresses through scientific session coverage, booth staffing, and delivering conference debriefs.
• Utilize CRM and data analytics tools to capture interaction details and manage territory planning effectively.
• Mentor or train less experienced colleagues, including assisting with new hire MSL onboarding.
• Ensure all activities comply with Vertex policies, regulatory frameworks, and pharmaceutical industry standards.

Requirements

• Strong educational background with a PhD, Masters, or MD.
• Previous professional experience in orphan drugs or rare diseases.
• Ability to appraise, comprehend, and effectively present complex medical and scientific literature.
• In-depth understanding of the healthcare regulatory environment and compliance frameworks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working in a matrix environment.
• Knowledge of Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) and the impact of payers on patient care.
• Fluency in both English and German.
• Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to travel overnight up to 70%, including occasional weekend travel.
