Senior Medical Science Liaison - Pain

Responsibilities

• Serve as a scientific liaison to the medical and academic community, focusing on the pain program and supporting near-term launch activities.
• Develop and foster trusting relationships with Thought Leaders and other healthcare professionals involved in clinical practice decision-making for pain management.
• Communicate clinical, scientific, and health economic data effectively and compliantly with external stakeholders.
• Contribute to the Medical Affairs strategy by providing external stakeholder insights and shaping the medical plan.
• Support clinical development by presenting Investigator Brochure (IB) material at SIV meetings and providing site nominations.
• Represent Vertex at medical congresses through scientific session coverage, booth staffing, and delivering conference debriefs.
• Utilize CRM and data analytics tools to capture interaction details and manage territory workload.

Requirements

• Advanced biomedical or life sciences degree (e.g., Masters, NP, PA).
• Terminal science degree (PhD, PharmD, or MD) is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an MSL or in medical affairs roles within the pharma/biotech industry.
• Proven experience with medical conditions associated with pain.
• Ability to travel routinely based on business needs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR).
• Understanding of the role of payers, P&T committees, and Integrated Delivery Networks.
• Experience working within a matrix environment and navigating healthcare regulatory frameworks.
