Senior Mechatronics Engineer

Responsibilities

• Work cross-functionally with Firmware, Product Design, Chemistry, and Regulatory teams to translate program needs into reliable, well-documented tooling
• Design and develop test systems and automation tooling, including software frameworks, electromechanical fixtures, and instrumentation
• Contribute to the team’s CI/firmware testing infrastructure by developing modular, maintainable test platform components
• Own projects end-to-end from requirement capture through fabrication, software integration, and validation
• Proactively identify gaps, flag risks, and propose solutions
• Produce clear, thorough documentation for peers and stakeholders
• Leverage AI coding assistants and LLMs for code generation, debugging, and design iteration

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in mechatronics, hardware/electrical engineering, or related disciplines
• Strong EE fundamentals including circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout (Altium preferred), and embedded microcontrollers
• Proficiency in Python for test automation and data acquisition
• Familiarity with Rust or other systems-level programming languages
• Proven experience designing and building automated test fixtures or custom electromechanical systems
• Experience using AI tools (coding assistants, LLMs) in an engineering workflow
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in consumer electronics, vapor/aerosol science, or factory test environments
• Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or Onshape
• Familiarity with LabVIEW, NI DAQ, or similar instrumentation frameworks
• Experience with IoT architectures or embedded Linux control systems
• Background in precision mechanics, vacuum systems, or optical/analytical instrumentation
