Responsibilities

  • Work with design engineering and production to improve manufacturability, quality, cost, and build efficiency
  • Review designs for fabrication risks, fit-up issues, weld access, bend strategy, and tolerance concerns
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes, routings, work instructions, and production standards
  • Design or support jigs, fixtures, shop aids, and tooling to improve repeatability
  • Support steel fabrication, forming, welding, machining, and mechanical assembly
  • Troubleshoot production issues and drive practical corrective actions
  • Improve documentation and reduce reliance on tribal knowledge
  • Mentor and support less experienced designers and production-support personnel

Requirements

  • 7+ years of full-time, post-graduation engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related Engineering
  • Direct experience in steel fabrication, weldments, heavy equipment, or transportation equipment
  • Proven experience implementing manufacturing improvements, fixtures, or process changes
  • Experience in a small-to-mid-sized manufacturing company
  • Strong understanding of fabrication, welding, forming, and machining
  • Ability to work on-site in production areas
