About the role
Responsibilities
- Design automotive wire harnesses and busbars using SolidWorks
- Manage wire routing paths, lengths, strain relief, and connector selection
- Create drawings, BOMs, and design documents via Arena PLM
- Collaborate with electrical engineers on harness design and EMI/grounding principles
- Participate in first article builds and travel to manufacturing locations
- Validate designs through builds and verification testing
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in automotive harness systems development
- Proficiency in 3D mechanical CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX)
- Experience with PDM and PLM software (Arena, ePDM, or Teamcenter)
- Familiarity with harnessing standards (AS50881, MIL-E-7016, EWIS, or MIL-STD-704)
- Ability to translate electrical schematics into precise cable routing
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electrical CAD software like Capital Harness Designer
- Experience designing form-boards and end-of-line test devices
