Senior Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of new WHOOP bands and accessories from initial concept through production ramp
• Drive product architecture decisions in partnership with Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, and Product Management
• Create and manage high-fidelity CAD models, assemblies, and detailed 2D documentation
• Spearhead second sourcing and dual tooling efforts to ensure supply chain resilience
• Define and execute validation test plans and apply root-cause analysis to field and manufacturing issues
• Provide technical leadership during design reviews, manufacturing builds, and supplier engagements
• Mentor junior engineers and establish mechanical design best practices within the team
• Travel up to 20% to visit contract manufacturers and suppliers

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 6+ years of mechanical design experience with ownership of multiple products through full development cycles
• Deep technical fluency in end-to-end product development, including DFM/DFA and EVT/DVT/PVT
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks or Creo) and experience with tolerance stack-ups
• Extensive experience with materials including plastics, silicones, textiles, elastomers, and metals
• Proven success managing global suppliers and manufacturers

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating soft goods with electronics
• Experience working with offshore manufacturing partners
• Knowledge of wearables, sports/fitness accessories, or human factors engineering
• Familiarity with FEA tools, rapid prototyping, and environmental testing
