Senior Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Translate high-level mission needs into actionable functional and operational requirements for complex electromechanical systems
• Design and iterate on electromagnetic actuators and intricate mechanisms including gears, bearings, and encoders
• Develop high-performance avionics enclosures with focus on thermal management and structural survivability
• Architect test equipment and methodologies for formal hardware qualification per DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 standards
• Act as a technical anchor across the organization to guide integration and multidisciplinary testing
• Partner with external suppliers to ensure delivery of conforming hardware and manage manufacturing deviations
• Take personal responsibility for the assembly, bring-up, and debugging of hardware prototypes

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline
• 5+ years of experience through the full product lifecycle
• Deep intuition for electromagnetic principles and mechanical load paths
• Proficiency in sizing analysis for strength, fatigue, and life cycles of actuator components
• Advanced design experience in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling packages
• Fluency in ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards
• Proven track record of qualifying hardware against DO-160 or MIL-STD-810 standards
• U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing custom test equipment and writing formal procedures
• Detailed knowledge of AGMA Standards and gearbox design analysis
• Experience in both high-compliance programs and fast-paced R&D environments
