Responsibilities

• Serve as responsible engineer for core technology subsystems including structures, electronics packaging, and fluid systems
• Create and maintain component and assembly CAD models using NX and Teamcenter
• Create detailed component and assembly drawings with GD&T and tolerance stack-ups
• Drive design trade studies, engineering reviews, and material selection for seawater service
• Interface with external fabricators and vendors
• Direct a skilled technician workforce for prototyping, testing, and fabrication
• Mentor less-experienced engineers and set design and analysis standards

Requirements

• Degree in mechanical, aerospace, naval, or marine engineering
• Extensive experience designing components and structures from various materials
• 5+ years of 3D CAD modeling experience
• Strong use of hand calculations for structural analysis
• Experience with structural FEA
• History of at least five design, build, test, and deploy cycles
• Ability to travel to vendors and test sites as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a related engineering field
• Experience designing packaging for electronics in marine environments
• Experience with sheet metal, sealing methods (o-rings/gaskets), and piping systems
• Hands-on hardware experience with fabrication, assembly, or testing
• Experience with rapid prototyping (3D printing, CNC, laser cutting)
• Familiarity with instrumentation and control components
• Proficiency in NX/Teamcenter and FEA software (NX NASTRAN, FEMAP)
• Programming experience in Python, Julia, MATLAB, or Mathematica
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 standards
