Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the Company

Pacific Fusion was founded in 2023 with the mission to power the world with abundant, affordable, clean energy. We are rapidly designing and building a pulser-driven inertial fusion system to achieve net facility gain.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative mechanical designs for complex engineering problems including vacuum vessels and structural assemblies
• Lead design changes and improvements from concept through fabrication and test
• Work closely with vendors and manufacturers to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
• Perform mechanical analysis including stress, thermal, and dynamic loading
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams spanning plasma physics, pulsed power, and electrical engineering
• Oversee the creation of detailed design documentation, drawings, and specifications

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer
• Proficiency in CAD software such as Creo or SolidWorks
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• Proven track record of taking mechanical designs from concept through fabrication and test
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and DFM
• Hands-on experience in laboratory or prototype environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience in fusion, plasma physics, or accelerator physics
• Familiarity with vacuum systems, cryogenics, or high-voltage hardware
• Exposure to large-scale structural systems or pressure vessels
