About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship within a multidisciplinary engineering team
- Own the electromechanical design of battery products, including high voltage distribution, isolation, grounding, and enclosures
- Address challenges related to electronics packaging, electrical isolation, sealing, thermal regulation, and shock/vibration mitigation
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and cross-functional interface design
- Perform mechanical design analysis including thermal, structural, design for assembly, and design for test
- Manage design from conception through mass-production iterations
- Create drawing packages and manufacturing instructions for parts and assemblies
- Design electromechanical and electrical systems for test stand safety and simplification
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or a related field
- 4+ years of experience with a Bachelor's or 3+ years with a Master's in developing medium to high volume products
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or NX
- Expertise in cost modeling and multi-physics simulations (thermal, CFD, structural)
- Strong fundamentals in mechanical and electrical engineering, GD&T, and first principles hand calculations
- Experience with high-volume manufacturing, fabrication, prototyping, and DFM/DFA
- Solid understanding of power distribution, electrical circuits, and protection devices
- Deep understanding of creepage and clearance analysis and standards (IEC, UL, etc.)
- Ability to model resistive losses and run current density analysis for busbar optimization
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with electrical standards (NEC)
- Experience with battery and power conversion standards (UL9540, UL1741)
- Proven leadership and mentorship capabilities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across diverse stakeholder groups
