Senior Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design tasks across feasibility, concept, and detailed design stages
• Prepare and coordinate mechanical deliverables including calculations, specifications, P&IDs, and layouts
• Manage technical quality, scope, budget, and programme for assigned mechanical packages
• Lead site surveys and technical discussions with clients, suppliers, and contractors
• Develop mechanical solutions for pumps, pipework, valves, tanks, and treatment assets
• Coordinate interfaces with Process, EICA, civil, and structural teams
• Support CDM/safety-by-design reviews, HAZOP/SWIFT input, and commissioning strategies
• Mentor Engineers and Graduates and contribute to mechanical standards

Requirements

• BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering
• Chartered Engineer status or significant CEng-level experience
• 6+ years of relevant mechanical engineering design experience
• Background in water, wastewater, biosolids, or oil & gas
• Experience with mechanical equipment selection, pumping systems, and hydraulics
• Working knowledge of UK water industry standards and CDM 2015
• Strong communication and technical leadership skills
• Right to work in the UK

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AMP8, WINEP, or major capital delivery environments
• Knowledge of sludge/bioresources, water reuse, or low-carbon mechanical solutions
• Proficiency with BIM/3D coordination, hydraulic modelling, or Python/VBA
• Experience supporting FAT/SAT, commissioning, or HAZOP reviews
