About the role
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical and electromechanical solutions for next-generation production pyrolyzers, considering maintenance, operator experience, and interfacing systems.
- Scale existing pyrolysis technology to higher throughputs and develop first-of-their-kind test articles for R&D.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical system malfunctions and performance gaps through root cause analysis.
- Develop and execute test plans and commissioning campaigns to validate system performance.
- Collaborate with electrical, software, and mechanical engineers to integrate systems into the broader pyrolysis platform.
- Provide occasional on-call support for production operations to resolve critical equipment issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5-8 years of experience designing, building, and supporting complex mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in Onshape CAD.
- Experience creating and reviewing detailed fabrication and assembly drawings with strong configuration control.
- Strong understanding of heat transfer, sensor/actuator selection, and translating requirements into engineering solutions.
- Familiarity with fabrication processes, piping standards, and the mechanical integration of process systems.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across Electrical, Controls, Manufacturing, and Fabrication teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience with process piping and vessel design in high-temperature or industrial environments.
- Experience working with electromechanical systems and material handling equipment.
