About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical and electromechanical solutions for next-generation production pyrolyzers, considering maintenance, operator experience, and interfacing systems.
  • Scale existing pyrolysis technology to higher throughputs and develop first-of-their-kind test articles for R&D.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical system malfunctions and performance gaps through root cause analysis.
  • Develop and execute test plans and commissioning campaigns to validate system performance.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, and mechanical engineers to integrate systems into the broader pyrolysis platform.
  • Provide occasional on-call support for production operations to resolve critical equipment issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience designing, building, and supporting complex mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in Onshape CAD.
  • Experience creating and reviewing detailed fabrication and assembly drawings with strong configuration control.
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer, sensor/actuator selection, and translating requirements into engineering solutions.
  • Familiarity with fabrication processes, piping standards, and the mechanical integration of process systems.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Electrical, Controls, Manufacturing, and Fabrication teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with process piping and vessel design in high-temperature or industrial environments.
  • Experience working with electromechanical systems and material handling equipment.
