About the role
Responsibilities
- Own the complete lifecycle of spacecraft subsystems, from mechanical design and analysis to hands-on testing
- Develop requirements for subsystems and components, including loads, interfaces, and functional requirements
- Perform mechanical design and analysis of complex assemblies to satisfy launch and on-orbit requirements
- Manage system-level schedules and integration requirements in collaboration with the Assembly, Integration, and Test team
- Define design best practices for future programs and mentor junior mechanical engineers
- Assist in recruiting and interviewing new teammates to support company growth
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or an equivalent field
- 4–15+ years of professional mechanical design experience
- Proficiency in CAD design (Solidworks) and Finite Element Analysis (Femap, Ansys)
- Strong understanding of GD&T and designing for manufacturability
- Proven ability to design, evaluate, and procure complex mechanical assemblies
- U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee status required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience defining vibration environments and conducting mechanical testing on spacecraft components
- Experience managing a development program and delegating tasks to a small team
- Experience synthesizing requirements and flowing them down to sub-scale verification builds
