Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, and test complex mechanical systems integrating with electronic and software components
- Design products for wide temperature ranges and high vibration environments using appropriate materials and shapes
- Design and integrate damping systems and isolation techniques to protect sensitive electronics
- Develop robust mechanical components using CAD software and perform detailed FEA for natural frequencies and shock loading
- Conduct modal analysis and predictive simulations to identify resonance frequencies
- Lead Design Validation Testing (DVT) including shaker table testing and environmental stress screening
- Ensure designs meet rigorous industry and military standards, specifically MIL-STD-810
- Collaborate with electrical and embedded software engineers for seamless system integration
- Develop jigs and self-test capabilities to automate product production
Requirements
- Degree in mechatronics, robotics, electrical, or mechanical engineering with a focus on vibrations/dynamics
- 5+ years of engineering experience with practical, hands-on problem solving
- Extensive experience in mechanical CAD design (e.g., SolidWorks) and rapid prototyping
- Advanced experience with FEA packages such as SolidWorks Simulation Premium, ANSYS, or Nastran
- Expertise in complex modal analysis for shock, vibration, and thermal testing
- Practical experience with shaker tables, accelerometers, and data acquisition systems
- Knowledge of standards like MIL-STD-810, ISO 10816, ISO 1940, or NASA-HDBK-7004
- Deep understanding of material properties under dynamic stress and varying temperatures
- Experience with design for manufacturability in high-volume production environments
