Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Rhoda AI is building the next generation of generalist intelligent robots. We own the full robotics stack from high-performance hardware and robot systems to the infrastructure and state-of-the-art foundation world models that control our robots.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full product lifecycle of Class-A surfaces from initial concept to end-of-life
• Integrate cladding subsystems while balancing aesthetic, mechanical, cost, and time constraints
• Perform dimensional stack-up analysis and define design criteria for subsystem compatibility
• Design complex B-side features including ribbing, bosses, clip towers, and hooks
• Develop robust attachment strategies such as snaps, hooks, and welds
• Coordinate cladding prototype builds and validate components against requirements
• Produce high-fidelity 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings with comprehensive GD&T
• Interpret FEA analysis (structural, Moldflow) to iterate designs
• Partner with Supply Chain and Tier 1/2 suppliers for RFQs and technical feasibility reviews

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
• 5+ years of engineering experience
• At least one full-cycle product launch
• Deep knowledge in thin-walled component design and/or high-performance composites
• Proficiency in CATIA or equivalent CAD software
• Deep understanding of GD&T and datum strategies
• Ability to balance material selection, geometry, and structural trade-offs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating textiles, artificial leather, elastomers, or cellular structures
• Deep knowledge of injection molding, RIM, vacuum forming, or thermoforming
• Familiarity with polymer surface finishes or vehicle interior lighting integration
• Background in both Design Engineering and Manufacturing/Assembly Engineering
