Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical parts for surface mounted or through-hole insertion and mechanical fixtures for MMIC packages
• Provide mechanical design inputs for PCB and ceramic substrates during the design phase
• Create outlines and case styles for models developed by the Electrical Engineering Team
• Manage Bill of Materials (BOM) for all mechanical components including carrier plates, fixtures, and fasteners
• Introduce new carrier tapes for SMT products or new packing materials to meet requirements
• Update existing mechanical component designs and documentation due to manufacturing changes or customer requests
• Order mechanical parts for prototypes from machine shops or external sources
• Participate in internal and external ISO audits

Requirements

• BSME with 7+ years of relevant experience OR MSME with 5+ years of relevant experience
• Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, Draftsight, and SolidWorks
• Experience with FEM for thermal and environmental analysis
• Knowledge of RF/DC test fixture design and IC device clamping
• Understanding of connectorized products, surface mount products, and PCB manufacturing methods
• Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (ITAR compliance)

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialization in Mechanical Design or Test Fixture Design
• Experience using SAP or PLM tools (Arena preferred)
• Experience with mechanical compression tolerancing and analysis
