Senior Mechanical CAD Designer

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and release detailed 3D models, assemblies, fabrication drawings, and engineering documentation
• Independently manage mechanical design packages and assembly-level CAD work for prototype systems
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, RF, and test engineers to support component integration
• Evaluate designs for manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and tolerance accumulation
• Support prototype assembly, troubleshooting, and testing in laboratory and field environments
• Coordinate with suppliers, machine shops, and fabrication vendors
• Assist with development of CAD standards, BOM structure, and documentation processes
• Support engineering teams with fixture design and prototype modifications

Requirements

• 5-7 years of experience in mechanical CAD design or product development
• Advanced proficiency with PTC Creo or equivalent 3D CAD software
• Associate’s degree or formal technical training in Drafting, Mechanical Design, or a related field
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, fabrication, and machining processes
• Working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
• Experience supporting prototype development in industrial or R&D environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Windchill or PLM systems
• Experience with industrial mechanical systems, pressure systems, or drilling technologies
• Experience working within prototype-heavy or R&D-focused organizations
