Senior Materials Tester

Responsibilities

• Supervise and carry out material testing in accordance with prescribed methods
• Perform field and laboratory work including sampling and calculations
• Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system
• Report any deviations, irregularities, and non-conformances orally
• Maintain cleanliness of the site, workshop, and laboratory equipment
• Complete timesheets accurately on a daily basis
• Control laboratory activities such as quality control under supervision

Requirements

• Grade 12 / NQF4 or equivalent relevant experience
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Competence in laboratory test methods (e.g., SANS and THM 1)
• Ability to perform fieldwork including densities, layer/stockpile sampling, and DCP
• Physical ability to move and pick up heavy samples

Preferred Qualifications

• Sampling and preparation experience
• Administration experience
• Experience with Ring and Ball tests, Sand Patch, and On Site Viscosity tests
• Experience sampling Asphalt and Bitumen
