About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide automation technical leadership to develop and maintain PLC and SCADA systems supporting GMP drug substance manufacturing plant operations
- Develop and maintain automation solutions utilizing various PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and integration with Emerson DeltaV systems
- Lead standalone system implementation, start-up, and technical guidance for control panel and HMI design
- Collaborate with process subject matter experts to transform process requirements into digital automated solutions
- Lead technical root cause analysis, incident investigations, and troubleshooting on standalone systems
- Support new product introductions (NPI) and new technology deployments through automation engineering assessments and configuration changes
- Provide 24/7 onsite/on-call operational support, including preventative and corrective maintenance
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 4 years of engineering experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Direct knowledge of PLC design and experience in controls engineering and troubleshooting
- Experience in GMP biopharmaceutical production environments
- Proficiency with Rockwell industrial automation hardware and systems
- Experience with System Integration using OPC, Profibus, and DeviceNet technologies
- Strong understanding of GAMPs, GMPs, and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical, Computer Science, Chemical, or Biotech Engineering
- Experience with utility equipment automation such as autoclaves, clean steam generators, and WFI systems
- Experience in Capital Project Lifecycle Management, including conceptual design and detailed engineering
- Ability to mentor and develop engineering staff within a collaborative team environment
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
