Senior Manufacturing Engineer

About the Company

Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor designed to provide critical power to hospitals, data centers, and remote sites.

Responsibilities

• Manage manufacturing and inspection processes for critical components and assemblies within the Kaleidos microreactor
• Partner with design engineers to develop innovative production methods for complex mechanisms and structures
• Develop, qualify, and refine manufacturing processes to meet safety, quality, efficiency, and delivery requirements
• Develop and execute manufacturing specifications and fabrication instructions
• Manage manufacturing bill-of-materials (mBOM) for components and assemblies
• Identify and develop appropriate suppliers for component sourcing and fabrication
• Plan and execute capital equipment, machine, and layout upgrades
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing processes and product quality

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline
• 4+ years of experience in manufacturing mechanical products in a production environment
• Ability to work 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering
• Experience with machining operations (milling, turning, grinding, EDM)
• Proficiency in GD&T and interpreting engineering drawings
• Experience with inspection systems (manual gauges, CMM)
• Experience with non-destructive testing (FPI, radiography, eddy current)
• Experience with custom machine design and electromechanical systems
• Proficiency in CAD (NX or similar)
