About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide end-to-end manufacturing assembly process solutions, including DFX (design for manufacturing, assembly, 6-sigma, and testing).
- Identify and apply risk mitigation strategies, leading investigations into product failures and driving corrective actions.
- Review contract manufacturer (CM) readiness, develop assembly fixtures and jigs, and establish manufacturing specifications.
- Gather feedback through yield issues and repair center activities to improve workflow efficiency and identify system assembly gaps.
- Review automation options to reduce waste and costs, recommending technological solutions and workspace layout changes.
- Manage the acquisition of specialized equipment and materials to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Develop and implement automation solutions to improve production capabilities and efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and deploy automated systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in developing and implementing automation solutions in a manufacturing environment.
- Expertise in GD&T, tolerance analysis, and 2D drawing with a focus on manufacturing risk.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment, electrical/electro-mechanical components, and PCBA processes.
- Proficiency in data analysis using SPC, 6 sigma, quality control, CpK, and PPAP.
- Knowledge of DFM, DFA, and DFx, including manufacturing cost breakdown and production performance prediction.
- Proficiency in CAD software (Creo preferred) and excellent English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with robotic assembly, machine vision, automated fastening, dispensing, and material handling.
- Experience with functional tolerancing, SPC, and NPI processes.
- Relevant design experience in data center products.
- Experience working with automation suppliers and contract manufacturers during validation and production ramp.
