Senior Manager, Underwriting

Responsibilities

• Recruit, onboard, and mentor an underwriting team to foster a high-performance culture
• Manage the underwriting lifecycle for Conventional, Government, Jumbo, Portfolio, and Non-QM home loans
• Establish and allocate underwriting authority levels and provide expert review for complex cases
• Train and coach the team to exceed production and quality goals using data-driven insights
• Partner with product and engineering teams to influence the technology roadmap and automate processes
• Build partnerships across Sales, Credit, Risk, and Operations to resolve bottlenecks
• Monitor Quality Control reports and implement corrective action plans to ensure GSE and investor compliance

Requirements

• 8+ years of mortgage underwriting experience
• 5+ years of experience leading mortgage underwriting teams
• Experience underwriting jumbo, high net worth, and complex credits
• Knowledge of federal, state, and FDIC real estate regulations
• Comprehensive knowledge of mortgage products and industry trends
• Proficiency with Encompass and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Strong decision-making, management, and interpersonal communication skills
