About the role
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end manufacturing process and equipment from incoming components through final assembly and functional test
- Influence design for manufacturability early in the design cycle to optimize for cost, yield, and assembly
- Select and implement a manufacturing execution system (MES) with built-in traceability and serialization
- Qualify and manage suppliers and contract manufacturers through on-site visits and process audits
- Drive key metrics including first-pass yield, cost per unit, throughput, and scrap/rework
- Hire, mentor, and grow the manufacturing engineering team
Requirements
- Strong mechanical engineering background with hands-on ownership of complex electromechanical products
- Direct experience transitioning products from prototype to high-volume production
- Experience with electric propulsion, powertrains, and electrical systems
- Proven ability to develop suppliers and contract manufacturers to improve quality and yield
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment
