About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop manufacturing engineering teams across multiple production sites, including managers and technical leads
- Define and execute manufacturing engineering strategy to support production, quality, capacity, and cost objectives
- Establish standardized manufacturing processes, tooling strategies, and operational best practices across facilities
- Own process development for HTS magnet manufacturing lines, transitioning from R&D builds to full-scale production
- Drive the transition from manual processes to scalable semi-automated and automated manufacturing systems
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering to ensure manufacturing readiness
- Implement DFM, PFMEA, statistical process controls, and Lean manufacturing methodologies
- Develop manufacturing capacity models, staffing plans, and capital equipment roadmaps
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
- 10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience supporting complex electro-mechanical systems
- 5+ years of leadership experience, including experience managing other managers
- Proven track record of taking products from R&D into full-scale production
- Experience leading teams across multiple production lines or facilities
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and work in environments with potential hazards like high voltage or cryogenics
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Operations
- Experience with superconducting magnets, thermo-mechanical assemblies, or vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI)
- Expertise in applying Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies
- Experience implementing MES, ERP-integrated systems, or digital manufacturing tools
