About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight of watchlist accounts and governance over the IB Watchlist and Problem Loan portfolio in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Work collaboratively with local SAM banking units to formulate optimal strategies for both the bank and the borrower.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to SAM Banking and Execution teams to improve the quality and efficiency of the workout process.
  • Minimize losses by providing strategic advice on portfolio performance and maintaining regular dialogue with execution teams.
  • Monitor the timely review of all applications and submissions while ensuring accurate documentation of authorization terms.
  • Ensure data accuracy in various databases and reports, including requirements related to Basel and Problem Loan Data Capture.
  • Present and report on the watchlist and problem loan portfolio to the Senior Credit Committee.
  • Participate in quarter-end processes to calculate and report on IFRS 9 provisions.
  • Liaise with internal audit, banking regulators, and external auditors.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Education completed; an MBA is considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate/commercial credit or relationship management functions.
  • Strong credit acumen with the ability to identify and mitigate forward-looking risks.
  • Understanding of legal recovery frameworks.
  • Strategic thinking and advanced problem-resolution skills.
  • Full proficiency in English is required; bilingualism in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Ability to travel to Latin America and/or the Caribbean as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in syndicated loan deals.
  • Experience in workouts and collections for stressed debt loans and assets in the commercial and corporate segments.
  • Knowledge of financial modelling.
