About the role
About the Company
Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor designed to provide critical power for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute Radiant’s congressional affairs strategy to support U.S. government programs and deployment timelines.
- Build and maintain relationships with Members of Congress, committee staff, and leadership offices across defense, energy, and appropriations portfolios.
- Identify opportunities to advance authorizing and appropriations language for advanced nuclear systems.
- Track and influence annual authorization and appropriations cycles, hearings, and legislative proposals.
- Prepare briefing materials, legislative analyses, and strategic recommendations for company leadership.
- Partner with business development, policy, and technical teams to align strategy with customer needs.
- Coordinate with outside consultants, trade associations, and think tanks.
- Ensure compliance with lobbying, ethics, and disclosure requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- 7+ years of experience in congressional policy, appropriations, or government affairs
- Experience working on Capitol Hill or closely with Congress
- Strong understanding of the congressional authorization and appropriations process
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work 100% onsite in Washington, D.C.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working for a congressional appropriations or authorizing committee
- Experience at a government affairs firm or multi-client policy practice
- Familiarity with Department of Defense budgeting and program structure
- Knowledge of nuclear energy, advanced energy technologies, or national security policy
