About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage all UTM data and analysis activities to support planning, policy formulation, and decision-making.
  • Lead and coordinate the Planning, Data and Analysis team, including assigning tasks and ensuring work quality.
  • Develop and implement complex budget and financial processes and long-range strategic models.
  • Conduct operational audits and provide financial and business recommendations for organizational restructuring.
  • Manage strategic initiatives, including financial modeling for internal projects and external contracts.
  • Facilitate access to institutional information systems to monitor key indicators and ensure data integrity.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree in Commerce, Economics, or Business Administration.
  • Professional Accounting designation or a Master’s degree.
  • Minimum seven years of related experience in budgeting, accounting, and financial analysis within a complex environment.
  • Proven experience supervising accounting staff and providing strategic advice to senior management.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated experience working with "big data" and utilizing data analysis tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a university setting or knowledge of university budgetary and enrolment management.
  • Proficiency with student information systems (ROSI), Tableau, SAS, SPSS, or COGNOS.
  • Experience in public accounting firms.
  • Knowledge of UTM and University of Toronto regulations and processes.
