About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary compliance advisory coverage for Capital Markets, Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities, and Electronic trading within the UK and Europe.
  • Act as the key compliance contact for Capital Markets and Global Wholesale Operations.
  • Partner with US/Canada Compliance teams to execute European elements of compliance programs relating to US activity (e.g., Swap Dealer, Volcker).
  • Evaluate new products, programs, and business initiatives to ensure compliance obligations and controls are identified and implemented.
  • Manage and implement UK regulatory changes by performing gap analyses against new legislation and guidelines.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of appropriate compliance policies and procedures.
  • Deliver compliance training and awareness communications to relevant business lines.
  • Partner with Business Risk Management to identify, assess, and remediate operational and compliance risks.

Requirements

  • Degree educated or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience operating in a complex, global bank covering capital markets and post-execution reporting.
  • In-depth understanding of the UK and European regulatory environment and strong knowledge of US regulations (e.g., SEC, CFTC, NFA, and FINRA).
  • Strong knowledge of Electronic Trading, Algorithmic Trading, and risk management frameworks.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management at mid to senior management (C-Suite) levels.
  • Ability to review and interpret complex regulation and legislation to perform detailed gap analyses.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present confidently to senior executives.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of integrity and attention to detail.
