About the role
Responsibilities
- Directly manage University capital projects, including new construction, campus infrastructure, interior renovations, and site improvements.
- Oversee the installation and replacement of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) equipment.
- Develop proposed capital projects and provide recommendations for project prioritization based on University needs and resources.
- Manage the full project lifecycle, including programming, budgeting, design, value engineering, bidding, construction, and warranty enforcement.
- Manage external consultants to ensure regulatory compliance and business needs are met.
- Maintain up-to-date floor plans, site utility plans, and space utilization databases.
- Support major utility system and building envelope upgrades across the Metropolitan and Florham campuses.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Ten years of successful capital project management experience.
- Significant experience in large-scale facility planning, design, construction, and fiscal management.
- Demonstrated understanding of sustainability principles and their application to projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between campuses and off-campus locations.
- Ability to work extended hours and remain available on an on-call basis for emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field.
- Experience in higher education facility management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Procore, or other project management software.
- Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or Revit.
