About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on cleanroom HVAC, BMS/EMS, and process equipment including incubators, centrifuges, and pumps.
- Maintain critical utilities such as clean steam, chilled water, gases, and compressed air systems.
- Operate and troubleshoot boilers, steam generators, cooling towers, and water treatment systems.
- Support cleanroom integrity by monitoring HEPA filters, pressure differentials, and temperature/humidity levels.
- Lead root cause analysis and CAPA processes to resolve equipment and utility issues.
- Calibrate instruments and contribute to equipment qualification processes (URS/IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Maintain accurate documentation in CMMS following strict Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Champion EHS standards, including LOTO, permits, and OSHA/NFPA 70E compliance.
- Mentor teammates and partner with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering departments.
Requirements
- 6–10+ years of maintenance experience in a GMP biopharma, cell therapy, or ATMP environment.
- High School Diploma/GED or a technical degree/diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance.
- Expertise in HVAC for controlled environments and knowledge of clean steam and chilled water systems.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, schematics, and single-line diagrams.
- Basic knowledge of PLC and HMI systems.
- Proficiency using CMMS and BMS/EMS software.
- Strong understanding of cGMP, GDP, and validation/qualification protocols.
- Ability to work 2nd shift (afternoon/evening hours) and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in cleanroom environments wearing required PPE.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with vibration analysis or thermography.
- Manufacturer-specific training on chillers or advanced controls.
- Formal coursework in GxP or cleanroom operations.
- Relevant safety certifications.
