Senior Machine Learning Engineer

About the Company

Kinetic Automation is building a network of automated repair centers for modern vehicles. Kinetic aims to be the primary infrastructure-as-a-service for servicing future vehicles with our robotic repair centers, powered by our proprietary software and AI.

Responsibilities

• Implement training loops, losses, augmentations, and evaluations using PyTorch
• Curate datasets, define labeling guidelines, and maintain data versioning
• Drive high-priority experiments, perform ablations, and track metrics
• Summarize relevant research papers and propose testable improvements
• Provide production support by exporting models and writing inference code
• Partner with backend engineers on APIs, containers, and CI
• Work with ops and labeling teams to close feedback loops from edge cases

Requirements

• Hands-on experience training and evaluating deep models for segmentation and detection
• Proficiency in Python and PyTorch
• Understanding of Transformer/LLM building blocks applied to vision (ViT, DETR, Mask2Former)
• Practical exposure to 3D/depth data, point clouds, and camera geometry
• Experience with Detectron2, MMDetection, or Segmentation frameworks
• Familiarity with Hugging Face Transformers
• Strong communication skills for writing PRs and experiment logs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python services (FastAPI/Flask)
• Experience with Docker and AWS services (S3, Batch/EC2, ECR)
