About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage daily activities in a Managing Attorney’s Office, including court filings, service, and retrieval of documents
- Perform electronic court filings for state and federal district and appellate courts
- Review incoming and outgoing court documents to ensure compliance with court rules and procedures
- Enter calendar deadlines into centralized docketing software (e.g., CourtAlert) and track critical dates
- Communicate with court personnel, attorneys, and paralegals regarding filing procedures and deadlines
- Travel to courts and administrative agencies to process filings and retrieve decisions as necessary
- Support litigation attorneys with research, document retrieval, and service of process
Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Managing Attorney or Clerk’s Office preferred
- Experience with federal, state, and local court electronic filing systems (e.g., PACER, NexGen, NYSCEF)
- Knowledge of Washington D.C. court rules and procedures for state and federal courts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with rules-based calendaring software (e.g., CourtAlert, CompuLaw)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
