Senior Legal Counsel

Responsibilities

• Advise on legal questions touching all aspects of operations, including expansion, compliance, and charter management
• Manage regulatory reporting to authorizers and government agencies
• Support advocacy and lobbying efforts
• Draft, review, and negotiate agreements using pragmatic business judgment
• Advise on data privacy issues
• Conduct legal research and writing

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school
• Licensed to practice in at least one U.S. state
• Admission to the New York Bar or eligibility for in-house qualification in New York
• At least six plus years of legal experience in-house, nonprofit, or BigLaw

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated interest in education and/or the nonprofit sector
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
