Senior Legal Counsel – Regulatory UK

Responsibilities

• Act as a senior adviser to the UK business on regulatory and product-related legal matters, focusing on financial services regulation and risk.
• Advise on how UK regulatory frameworks apply to product design, platform services, operating models, and outsourced service arrangements.
• Ensure new and existing products comply with UK regulatory frameworks, including SIPP/ISA/GIA wrappers and investment operations.
• Provide legal and regulatory support on AI and emerging technology use cases, monitoring developments to support practical governance and risk assessments.
• Embed regulatory obligations into commercial terms and partner with Product, Technology, and Delivery teams to enable compliant delivery models.
• Support product reviews, governance committees, and internal investigations, including sensitive matters such as whistleblowing and regulatory incidents.
• Manage external counsel efficiently to ensure alignment with commercial and strategic priorities.

Requirements

• 10+ years’ PQE as a solicitor with strong experience in financial services, regulatory, or product legal roles.
• Deep knowledge of FCA rules relevant to platforms, investment services, outsourcing, and digital distribution.
• Proven experience providing legal and regulatory support for product governance, design, and distribution frameworks.
• Experience within a regulated platform, asset manager, insurance company, bank, or top-tier law firm.
• Demonstrated ability to advise senior stakeholders and influence decision-making in a fast-paced, complex environment.
• Experience or a strong interest in AI and emerging technology regulation and governance.
