Senior Lead Platform Engineer - Networking

Responsibilities

• Collaborate across the organisation to implement platform wide strategies in our networking stack
• Optimise infrastructure for failover and resiliency
• Enhance operator design and custom implementation using cloud native operators
• Improve observability of networking components to meet SLOs
• Lead troubleshooting of production workloads and incidents
• Develop secure high-quality production code and perform code reviews
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors and startups for architectural designs
• Lead agile ceremonies and communities of practice
• Drive adoption and governance of AI-assisted engineering practices

Requirements

• Detailed understanding of public clouds (GCP or AWS)
• Expert knowledge of containerisation and Kubernetes
• Deep understanding of cloud-native and traditional networking architectures
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, Load Balancers, etc.)
• Extensive experience writing custom Kubernetes Operators in Golang
• Experience with AI-assisted software development tools and responsible AI use
• Ability to work in fast-moving, critical environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands on experience with Reconciliation Loops, ArgoCD, and IaC (Crossplane/Terraform)
• Experience with Service Mesh (Istio)
• Experience debugging networking and Kubernetes issues at scale
• Implementation experience with Direct Connect, Cloud Interconnect, or Partner Interconnect
