Senior Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive testing of civil construction materials including concrete, cement, aggregates, soil, asphalt, and water
• Ensure testing complies with ASTM, ACI, BS, IS, or other applicable standards
• Supervise and mentor junior lab technicians on testing procedures and documentation
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate all laboratory equipment and manage inventory
• Review test results and report findings to QA/QC engineers and project management
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly lab reports with detailed observations
• Assist site engineers during inspections and material approvals
• Follow strict safety protocols and ensure compliance with OH&S regulations

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Material Testing, or a related field
• 10-15 years of experience as a Lab Technician in civil construction projects
• In-depth knowledge of material testing procedures for concrete, cement, soil, and aggregates
• Experience with laboratory equipment calibration and troubleshooting
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and standards
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills
